Also, the Basic 200 list has been retweaked.
What is your definition of "basic" here?
Basic means it meets the criteria for both (1) and (2) here:

1. A common, Swadeshesque word (not "lint" or "prosperity", for instance, even though these two words are both on the long list); and
2. Something that pretty much all languages spoken by anthropic cultures will have a word for (not "computer" or "turntable" or "public school" or "to call (via phone)", for instance)

Languages do not necessarily have to make the distinctions made in the LCV in their basic words (nor in the other words). Items like "river (flowing into the sea)" vs. "river (flowing into another river)" just reflect the LCV's principle of splitting. Your conlang would likely end up with aboout 160-185 distinct lexical items after you started with the Basic 200.

Newcomer here; on which site can the Landau Core Vocabulary-in-progress be accessed? Thanks in advance.

And has this thread continued from another site, or the earlier posts in the thread deleted by the admin? It seems that the thread's visible first post continues from somewhere.

It's not online anywhere. I need to send it to you via email or PM. I can PM it to you, or I can email you. If you'd like the LCV in email format, just PM me your email addy, unless you'd like everyone on the forum to find it out, in which case, feel free to post it publicly. Which would you prefer: the email or the PM's? (Warning: the LCV takes up multiple PM's.)

A dew months back, all posts older than five years, along with all the "conversation threads" and many game threads, were pruned because all those messages were taking up too much memory for the site to run anymore. This included the first few years' worth of posts in this thread.

The email, if you please. I'll PM you shortly.

P.S. you can send attachments through PM? Didn't know of that.

Actually, you can't send attachments through PM. The PM option would've entailed me sending you long lists of words in the text body of my messages. (The LCV is so long that it takes a few PM's to send it all.)

Anyway, today I added some new entries to the LCV:

to beep (of an electronic device)

to ease (pain)
to ease (physical tension)
to ease (metaphorical tension)
to ease (one's conscience)

to honk, to beep (of a vehicle)

to moan (with sadness)
musical (of music)

olive oil
pad (of paper)
pad (of gauze/cloth, for heating, etc.)
elbow pads
knee pads
relaxed, lax (muscles)
to sneak
to sneak in(to)
to sneak out (of)
to sob
stake (the ~s are high)
to have a stake in
at stake
to be stuck (be immovable: the door is stuck)
to be stuck (be trapped, of a thing: the ring is stuck on my finger)
to be stuck (be trapped, of a person: Paul got stuck in the bathtub)
to be stuck (Alice was stuck in traffic)
to be stuck (I'm stuck at school)
to be stuck (I'm stuck with you)

Bonus points to those who can tell me which conlang's lexicon I consulted for all the fistinctions in "to be stuck".
