It's actually a nice challenge to try both. I would recommend this.
Wipe the glass. This is the usual way to start, even in the days, day and night, only a happy one.

In any case, let it be known that "some reindeer" is plural in that sentence. Theoretically, you could be speaking pejoratively about a single reindeer, but that's less likely.
