Oh, are all the threads not blocked anymore?

What's been going on lately? Should we expect the board to be down again soon?

Anyone onboard live in a city with a city income tax?
I used to, from 2012-15 (Ohio). And that return had to be filed separately from the two State returns and the Federal.

At least now that I live in Europe, it's a lot easier: I just have have to complete a US Federal return, since I'm not above the income threshold for having to file a tax declaration here in Luxembourg.
And I'll dance with you in Vienna,
I'll be wearing a river's disguise;
The hyacinth wild on my shoulder,
My mouth on the dew of your thigh...

Close to the last Full Moon, coming up to New Year, and I sent this to a friend who was feeling a bit down for Reasons:

"Someone out there, some time, has found you sexy, for whatever reason, and chances are someone will find you sexy again.

Now, that's basing how sexy you are on something exterior, which of course has its merits, and likely will in the future (I suspect it's rare for anyone to never be found sexy by someone), so how do you internalise that?

Personally, I find it hard to internalise "sexy". Other people? Sure, easy as hell. Myself? Not so much. What I do know is how to cheer myself up (most of the time). Throw on some music that makes you move without thinking, watch something that makes feel (to quote Doctor Who, "Happy crying. Humany-wumany"), and if you can, just go out for a walk at night under the stars and look up. The Moon is almost full (yesterday night) and the stars are always out when the clouds decide it's worth their time parting, and that's just amazing.

When I don't feel sexy, and the world is getting me down, I just look up and think "that's all there, perfectly meaningless, and isn't it all just gorgeous?". Scale it down, why do we almost never think the same of ourselves, when we matter to so many people?"
You can tell the same lie a thousand times,
But it never gets any more true,
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.

Generalising:

Year after year the moons of Saturn turn, indifferent to our being, yet down here we wonder and worry over whether the person across the room thinks about us the same way we feel about those world's out there. We can talk to those people. We can't talk to Saturn's moons. One we find beautiful, one we find terrifying, neither we find mundane.
You can tell the same lie a thousand times,
But it never gets any more true,
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.

Sexy…sexy… SEXXXAY!! ¿Am I sexy? … ¡I'm too sexy! … ⸘Sexyback‽…
Beuh. Overrated, IMHO.
…Moons of Saturn…
Ha ha ha! [o.O] I grokk that, slightly differentwise.

On peculiarly catawumptious days, I liken my ex-girlfriends to the moons of Saturn, for almost those same reasons/qualities/tragic flaws.

It's on those days that I'm reminded how Paul Simon once and again crooned "I sit and think of things that might have been" ~ usually for me that sort of introspective pensieving haps upon Dec 28th ~

Whelp, who cares if I'm a day early this year: a little slip-sliding away does a Soul good, as long as you can follow the breadcrumbs back.

Ah, you went down to Sharqam's this year?

Didn't I tell you their roast river horse was to die for?

Mind you, it's not unusual for at least one of the hunters to die for it...

I've just spent the last 20 minutes trying to figure out if I've just chipped a tooth or if the one filling I have has fallen out, because I've honestly forgotten where it is [:P]

The tooth that currently has a chip in it is my right second maxillary premolar, while the filling was either in that tooth, or on the opposite side in the left second maxillary premolar, and for the life of me I can't remember which one.

I'm pretty sure at the moment the filling has come out, but not 100% sure [:P]
Is it a composite or porcelain filling that blends in with the tooth, or is it something gold or amalgam that shows up when you look in the mirror (and you just can't remember out of a mental left-right confosion)?

Have you found out since you posted this?

So

Do you guys believe in ghosts? :?:
When I was a child, my mother told me there were no such thing as ghosts, and I believed it.

Then came the TV show Ghosthunters. I learned that there were haunted places, but that some scientists were so set in their out-od-hand rejection of ghosts, that they wouldn't even investigate.

Then Joe Nickell did some open-minded investigations, and came up with a sensible skeptical explanation for alleged hauntings.

Not all the ghost sightings, though. There's a poster on the 4thkingdom board who says her family stayed in a house in New Orleans once where her mother periodically saw ghosts of a little boy (in eighteenth-century clothing), a cat, a ball, and a woman who stood in front of her bed). She never mentioned them to anyone . . . until one night, when her family was telling scary stories at a campfire, her brother told a story about those exact ghosts. He sad seen what she saw. It's the most intriguing ghost story I've heard/

From what I can remember, it was probably an amalgam, but I'm honestly not sure.

After some talking with my ex, pretty sure it was the filling that fell out. Haven't gotten it sorted out yet though [:P]
