Did you include unverified words? The boQwI' app includes them with notes.

Perhaps you should...just put them in a different section.
Re: petaQ, tlhIngan Hol yIghojqu'
Wow! I never knew they added (at last!) a word for 'sun'. So long was I using words like pemHov or 'Hov'a' . I remember talking with Rev. Glen Proechel long-distance by phone, and discussing what that would be in Hol. At the time, he had recently come back to US:MN from Kamchatka Peninsula.
Great fellow linguist and Klingonist, sorely missed.

Marc Okrand has recently created a new Klingon word: tu'mI', meaning "sock".
If you reverse the syllables, tu'mI' sounds like "me too". Am I correct in thinking this is a pun on the term "sock puppet"?

Do you mean “Did M Okrand intend this as a pun?”? If so: IDKKhemehekis wrote: ↑13 Mar 2019 04:52https://www.kli.org/about-klingon/new-k ... ords/date/

Do you mean “Are we likely to henceforth regard this as (such) a pun?”? If so: obviously

Considering how easy and intutive the "tu'mi' = me too = sock puppet = sock" connection seems, I doubt this is a coincidence in a language filled with puns.

The new word lIvqa'nan sounds like "leave Canaan". What do you suppose the given meaning, "doorframe [something constructed to hold a door or gate, whether the door/gate is there or not]", has to do with it?

Klingon now has words for "billion" (a homage to a certain astronomer, no less!), "to vote", "hypothesis", "to consider/regard", "to exploit", "physics", "to be hot/spicy", "to be savory", "etc.", "wormhole", "coincidence", "priest", "recipe", "genealogy", "theory", "glue", "rhyme", "rubber", "coconut", "salt", "hormone", "dust", "ashes", "nest", "fiction", "Afghanistan", "melody", and "breast" -- among others!

Why “coconut”? Is it a loanword, or a neologism? Any coconut anywhere off Earth has to be a transplant or import or descendant of such!

I clicked on it, but I found it impossible to look up anything on it.
So I never saw that sentence.

Actually, Eldin, I was hoping people would read all the recent words to see the marvel of the whole list for themselves (including many words I didn't mention above). The list is mostly is alphabetical order by Klingon word. One of the words, qo'qo, is coconut; if you look at it, you can tell it's borrowed.Did you click on the page he linked to? I thought it might be in alphabetical order by tlhIngan’s alphabet.Khemehekis wrote: ↑03 Aug 2019 22:18Actually, Eldin, I was hoping people would read all the recent words to see the marvel of the whole list for themselves (including many words I didn't mention above). I don’t have that memorised and couldn’t see from the page how to find it out*, and of course since I would be looking up “coconut” to find “qo’qo”, I wouldn’t have known what to look up even if I knew tlhIngan’s alphabetical order.
(*I see the alphabetical order for tlhIngan now. But I still wouldn’t have known to look under q for coconut.)
I had no trouble finding Saghan because I knew the tlhIngan word would be derived from Carl Sagan’s surname.
Is there a way to use that site as a Klingon-to-English -and- English-to-Klingon “dictionary”?
I imagine the word for “rubber” is borrowed also. [But clearly not from English!]
As is the proper name for “Afghanistan”.
Edit: I used the “in order by date added” feature and looked at all the words new since 1/1/2019.
Kinda impressed!

But check out https://www.frathwiki.com/Klingon/lexicon , which Masako and I have edited. All the Klingon words officially coined to date!
I have just added all the newest words.
The lexicon of Klingon has really blossomed in the past five years.Edit: I used the “in order by date added” feature and looked at all the words new since 1/1/2019.

EDIT: By my own count, Klingon is up to 3,714 words.
