Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
Is глас- related to a word attested in Biblical Gothic beginning with a consonant cluster, if it's related to a word attested in Biblical Gothic at all?
Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
It's not attested in Biblical Gothic, no.shimobaatar wrote: ↑01 Sep 2019 04:50Is глас- related to a word attested in Biblical Gothic beginning with a consonant cluster, if it's related to a word attested in Biblical Gothic at all?
Edit: it seems that I might have made a mistake. I expect this word to be глисматс /ˈɣliːsˌmats/. Hopefully this helps narrow it down.

Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
Does the word refer to a “paper tiger”-type situation, a projection of strength without much to back it up?
Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
It's nothing abstract like that.shimobaatar wrote: ↑02 Sep 2019 19:43Does the word refer to a “paper tiger”-type situation, a projection of strength without much to back it up?

Re: Guess the Word in Germanic Conlangs
Colder! It's not a metal or physical material of the sort. Try figuring out the relationship between the 2 morphemes. There are analogs in other languages.
